TOPEKA—Chief Justice Marla Luckert signed orders appointing new members and reappointing current members to two boards and three committees.

Board for Discipline of Attorneys
 
The Board for Discipline of Attorneys is composed of 20 attorneys appointed by the Supreme Court. The board assigns three attorneys, at least two of whom are board members, to review each docketed case and approve or modify recommendations by the disciplinary administrator.
 
Reappointed to serve through June 30, 2029, are:

  • Gregory Bauer, Great Bend

  • Hatem Chahine, Lawrence

  • Derrick Roberson, Manhattan, chair

  • Christopher Sook, Hays

  • Kala Spigarelli, Pittsburg

Appointed to serve through June 30, 2029, are:

  • Brian Bina, McPherson

  • Christine Campbell, Wichita

  • Vincent Cox, Topeka

  • Erin Sommer Good, Manhattan

  • Susan Mauch, Topeka

  • Kimberly Robinson, Ottawa

Diana Stanley, Wichita, is appointed to serve through June 30, 2026, filling an unexpired term.
 
Kansas Board of Law Examiners
 
The Kansas Board of Law Examiners oversees all matters relating to applications for admission, character and fitness, testing accommodations, temporary permits to practice, and legal intern permits. The board is composed of 10 attorneys and judges.
 
The court reappointed C. Edward Watson, Wichita, to a second term through June 30, 2030. Watson will continue as vice chair.
 
The court appointed Rebekah Gaston, Topeka, to serve through June 30, 2030.
 
Specialty Court Committee
 
The Specialty Court Committee makes recommendations to the Supreme Court on developing and administering specialty courts in Kansas district courts. The chief justice appoints five members to the 12-member committee, including the chair.
 
Reappointed to serve through June 30, 2028, are:

  • Adam Baker, veterans treatment court coordinator, 29th Judicial District, which is Wyandotte County

  • Ronna Larson, vice mayor, Junction City

  • Chris Lyon, assistant attorney, Leavenworth County Attorney’s Office, Leavenworth

  • District Judge Michael Russell, 29th Judicial District

The court appointed Dawn Huddleston, statewide specialty court program manager, as the nonvoting representative of the Office of Judicial Administration.
 
Judicial Education Advisory Committee
 
The Judicial Education Advisory Committee recommends and organizes education and training programs for Kansas appellate judges, district judges, and district magistrate judges. The committee is composed of one appellate judge, up to 10 district judges and district magistrate judges, and one nonvoting representative of the Office of Judicial Administration.
 
The court appointed District Magistrate Judge Darrell Walters to serve through June 30, 2028. He serves in Kearney County in the 25th Judicial District.
 
Child Support Guidelines Advisory Committee
 
The Child Support Guidelines Advisory Committee reviews child support guidelines to ensure equitable and appropriate payments for parents to support essential day-to-day needs of their children. The committee is composed of parents who either pay or receive child support, tax professionals with expertise in child support, attorneys, and judges.
 
Reappointed through June 30, 2029, are:

  • Marcilyn Martinez, director of child support services, Kansas Department for Children and Families

  • Richard Samaniego, attorney, Wichita

  • Marc White, attorney, Lawrence

 Appointed to serve through June 30, 2029, are:

  • Bradly Bergman, attorney, Olathe

  • District Judge Kellie Hogan, Sedgwick County, which is the 18th Judicial District

Language Access Committee
 
The Language Access Committee makes recommendations to the Supreme Court about developing the language access program. The program seeks to make Kansas courts more accessible to people with limited English proficiency.
 
Reappointed to three-year terms through June 30, 2028, are:

  • Judge Lesley Isherwood, Kansas Court of Appeals

  • District Judge Richard Marquez, who serves in Finney County in the 25th Judicial District, chair

  • Lundy Settle, court administrator, 20th Judicial District

  • District Magistrate Judge Korina Wedel, who serves in Wichita County in the 25th Judicial District

The court appointed Kayla Acosta, clerk, Ellis County District Court, to serve through June 30, 2028.
