Judge Kim R. Schroeder was born in Winfield and raised in Hugoton, Kansas. He attended community college in Liberal and undergraduate and law school in Topeka at Washburn University. After a private practice career in Hugoton that encompassed southwest Kansas, he was elected to be one of the district judges in the 26th Judicial District, where he served 14 years until his appointment to the Court of Appeals.
