Parenting Plans in Domestic Cases

The Kansas Legislature in K.S.A. 60-1626 instructed the Supreme Court to inform parents, or require them to be informed, about:

• how to prepare a parenting plan;

• the impact of family dissolution on children and how the needs of children facing family dissolution can best be addressed;

• the impact of domestic abuse on children, and resources for addressing domestic abuse; and

• mediation or other nonjudicial procedures designed to help them reach an agreement.

The Supreme Court developed a parenting plan form as an example for local judicial districts. Contact the district court in your area for a copy of their form.
