District Judge Paula MartinTOPEKA—District Judge Paula Martin will retire June 14 after serving 25 years in the 7th Judicial District.

Martin was appointed in 1994 to fill a new position created for the 7th Judicial District, which is composed of Douglas County. She has presided over major civil and criminal cases throughout her career.

“It has been an honor to serve the state of Kansas and Douglas County as a trial judge," Martin said. “It is a privilege I do not take for granted and a responsibility I do not take lightly. I have endeavored to try each case as my most important case because I know it is for the litigants, and to treat everyone with dignity and respect.”

Martin earned a bachelor's degree in philosophy and classical antiquities from the University of Kansas and a law degree from the University of Kansas School of Law.

“I have had the good fortune to have a great staff, wonderful colleagues, and dedicated court employees,” Martin said.
