TOPEKA—The Kansas Supreme Court appointed four members to the Kansas Continuing Legal Education Board.
Joslyn Kusiak, a lawyer at Kelly & Kusiak Law Office in Independence, was reappointed to a three-year term beginning July 1 and ending June 30, 2024.
New to the board are Jean Menager and District Judge Andrew Stein.
Menager is a lawyer at Colantuono Guinn Keppler in Overland Park. He succeeds Megan Walawender, senior associate general counsel at the University of Kansas.
Stein serves in the 16th Judicial District, composed of Clark, Comanche, Ford, Gray, Kiowa, and Meade counties. He succeeds District Judge Wendel Wurst, who serves in the 25th Judicial District, composed of Finney, Greeley, Hamilton, Kearny, Scott, and Wichita counties.
Menager and Stein will serve three-year terms beginning July 1 and ending June 30, 2024.
The court also appointed Gillian Chadwick to fill the unexpired term of Aida Alaka, professor of law at Washburn University School of Law, Topeka.
Chadwick is associate professor of law and director of the Washburn Law Clinic and associate director of the Children and Family Law Center at Washburn University School of Law.
The board oversees continuing legal education requirements for lawyers licensed to practice in Kansas. Attorneys must earn a minimum of 12 credit hours each year.
